Tomorrow is Futures Friends London! Seven varied futurists, trend forecasters, and strategists will share their 333's [3 signals, 3 slides, 3 minutes]. This will be our seventh one in London! The thing that's shone through is...The magic is not in the individual signal but in the SYMPHONY that's being created when curious minds share what has caught their attention. It's sublime to see varied agencies, brands and independents come together to learn from each other and connect [nudge, tickets go like crazy - we're sold out for tomorrow]. Our next one will be on the 17th of September, so mark your calendar! My lovely co-hosts Helen Job, Sarah Owen and I will be sharing deets a few weeks prior.Pass it on = brain-tingly karma: tag someone who has yet to come!

Every summer, tourists do very stupid things: carve their names on the Colosseum, try to take pictures of sunsets all at once, or complain too much about the lack of "ice" in drinks. But what if we REWARDED good tourist behaviour instead of squirting water at tourists [a la Barcelona]? Copenhagen is trying just that. "The Danish capital is offering free museum tours, art workshops and more to visitors who take part in climate-friendly initiatives." I think this is fab - #tourism isn't going away, in fact it's only set to grow year-on year. So why not focus on raising the bar on how tourists behave? It's a sad truth that rewards aid in creating habitual change. Scorn and contempt never move a needle. “We must turn tourism from being an environmental burden into a force for positive change,” said Mikkel Aarø-Hansen, the chief executive ofWonderful Copenhagen, the tourism organization for the Capital Region of Denmark. An important step in this transformation, he said, “is to change how we move around on the destination, what we consume, and how we interact with the locals.”Some of the CopenPay perks...“CopenPay rewards actions such as cycling, participating in cleanup efforts, or volunteering at urban farms with access to a variety ofenriching experiences and everyday wonders of #Copenhagen. This includes complimentary guided museum tours, free kayak rentals, and even a free vegetarian lunch made from local crops,”I love this idea, will other cities adopt this mindset too?

"A precedent has been established." It took Havas 2 years to obtain its B-Corp status; it took taking on Shell to lose it. HavingShell as a client not only let down [the planet, countries and citizens], it let down every agency within its own fold. “#Havas London, Havas Lemz, Havas New York and Havas Immerse are no longer certified B Corps. Other entities in the Havas group are also ineligible to certify.”A nudge to those considering the pathway to #BCorp status: your ethics will need to withstand economics. An industry-watching cudos to Clean Creatives and the 27 agencies who asked for better from our industry since October.

Colour as a gateway to culture [and I'm not talking about commercial-led Pantone]. Artists ranging from Taylor Swift [Red] and Lana Del Rey [Baby Blue] to a laCharli XCX epic "Brat Green" are all playing with the rainbow. But it's loud green—the colour you can't unsee this Summer. “I wanted to go with an offensive, off-trend shade of green to trigger the idea of something being wrong,” she explained. “I’d like for us to question our expectations of pop culture—why are some things considered good and acceptable, and some things deemed bad? I’m interested in the narratives behind that and I want to provoke people. I’m not doing things to be nice.”- #CharliXCX It's a sharp play to invest in an "ownable shade." As we've witnessed with Brat Green, it's gone from Album cover to the runway, and even other brands have picked up on the shade. "Brat is also a colour – slime green – and fashion houses and high-end retailers have vied to release themost convincing “green edit”. “If you were going to a concert,” 16-year-old Cicely Higham (my stepdaughter) says, “you’d wear neon green. The album cover is so simple, and it’s quite easy to badge yourself. People have started taking selfies next to green things. But it’s not an exterior thing. It’s nothing to do with what you wear. It’s nothing to do with what you look like.Even if it were a look, it is not one you can pick off the rack. There is no brat merchandise, so self-made versions of it are flourishing: from T-shirts in that incredibly simple typeface to nail art, caps and lighters" This isn't new = Tiffany Blue, Hermes OrangeBUT #BratGreen feels fresher, AND the sentiment behind it has kept this particular shade social. Why do you think this Summer shade struck and stuck?

2.2% that’s the amount all-woman founding teams have raised via VC’s so far this year. “A majority of female-founded companies remain in the seed and early stage of the VC lifestyle”In the last DECADE woman led teams have have never raised more than 3%, compared to overall investment. Ever. Dual mixed-gender teams investment is also down. “17% – compared to the $24.8 billion out of $87.7 billion – 28% – in the first half of 2023”For all the talk of “change”, follow the money. And if you sit at these #VC tables…- Open the door (from the inside & outside)- Reframe “value”- Don’t shy away from “woman’s health” (even if your government is) it’s a BILLION-dollar untapped opportunity - Be open to ideas beyond “the next Uber, but different” How do we flip this dismal trend? “What’s a favourite thing you’ve ever worked on?” Young V&A.Their epic ode to childhood & enriching curiosity just won MUSEUM OF THE YEAR!I worked with the Victoria and Albert Museum’s dynamic team to build out Young V&A’s Audience strategy & playbook to welcome a varied, diverse and culturally curious crowd. Their ambition was to not only physically renovate their space, but redefine WHO and WHY people came. Every touch point was considered, it’s a truly magical place and remains a gift of a client to have worked with. Sophie Brendel & Sophie Rouse you and your mind mosaic of a team are exceptional. All the hard work = 🎉"It has radically reimagined the museum with and for young people, creating a museum experience that’s active, empowering and dynamic, centred on learning through play," she said."You truly are the world’s most joyful museum and will inspire young people now and for generations to come.”Go visit!!!

“Nobody watches women’s sports” The Sports Bra heard that and everything in between when trying to raise funds. No traditional funding door opened. That didn't stop the bar's founder, Jenny Nguyen. "I opened the Sports Bra with women’s sports being the ultimate focus. The intent was to uplift it, to promote it, to support it, to give people a place to come and celebrate it." Doubt = a LOT of missed dollars left on the table. "The bar brought in nearly a million dollars in revenue in its first eight months in business", delivering on its purpose and passion from day one. There are now franchises in the works - for every bank, lender, or backer who turned down backing a mecca for female sports. You placed a BAD bet. Women's sports are HOT as hell right now. - "WNBAnational tv games this season are averaging80% of theviewershipofNBAnational tv games this past season" [US] - "The average viewing time spent watching any women's sport across Free-To-Air and pay-TV increased by 16%, year-on-year, to 10 hours and 7 minutes per person in 2023" [UK]Hello World, I want to work on a woman's sports brief!
