Diamond Z Fold Card Video - JanB Cards (2024)

Hello, Crafters.

Have I got a great video for you today? I’m not sure why I feel so pleased with this card but it was joy to make. I’m pleased with all three cards I’ve made and just by way of a change, it’s a 7″ x 5″ card! This is the size card – and also 6″ x 6″ – I used to make before I joined Stampin’ Up! It took me quite some time to accept the C6 size i.e. 5¾” x 4⅛” as normal. What’s your favourite card size?

Today’s card was inspired by a video I saw made by Iced Images. There is a similar card to today’s design but is built without the support block which in turns make the middle image move in a totally different way. I haven’t ever made the other style and now I’ve made this design it’s unlikely I ever will but as they say, never say never! I had hoped to make a masculine card using the Sailing Home Stamp Set but I didn’t have any suitable Designer Series Paper (DSP). I had suitable designs but only as 6″ x 6″ paper – no good for a 7″ x 5″ card!

The card I made for the video is the Petal Pink one that I decorated with flowers created using the fabulous Pierced Blooms Dies. All the products I used are listed below and I promised in the video I would list the products for the other two cards on my blog today. Although I didn’t plan it this way, my three cards show three different ways this card can be made, colour wise; the butterfly card is monotone, the pierced blooms card is monotone plus an accent colour and the daffodil card has a very patterned DSP.

The base colour for the daffodil card is Flirty Flamingo and I used two different designs from the Daffodil Afternoon DSP. This DSP is available until 28th February as a Sale-a-bration (SAB) gift for a qualifying order of £45/60€. (Let me know if you’d like more details). I decorated the diamonds using daffodils I’d made using the Daffodil Dies which match the Daffodil Daydream Stamp Set. If you’d like to know how to build these daffodils and/or how I coloured my daffodils to match those in the DSP, please check out last week’s video. If you don’t want to watch the whole video, fast forward to forty five minutes and then you’ll see the daffodil building demonstration only. It’s no.623 – Making Daffodils & Tower Fancy Fold Card: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkH2j9TnUsw&t=77s

I used Very Vanilla and Pale Papaya Cardstock for the daffodils. For some reason I decided to use Pale Papaya Ink to stamp the sentiment but I should have used Flirty Flamingo. Why did I do this? I’m afraid your guess is as good as mine! LOL! I didn’t add any special place on these cards for writing a greeting because I’d write my greeting on the back of the card. Had I used a dark cardstock, I would have die-cut a large white label to adhere on the back. Another thought I had when I was making this card was to decorate the front part of the support block in matching DSP. However, I decided not to because there’s only a small amount of Flirty Flamingo Cardstock exposed, it wasn’t worth worrying about.

I chose Fresh Freesia Cardstock for my butterfly card together with DSP from the Friendly Hello DSP & Stamp Set which is a level 2 SAB gift. A qualifying order for a level 2 SAB gift is £90/120€. The DSP I used for the video card is also from the same bundle. I stamped the butterflies from the Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set onto some Basic White Cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. After I had die-cut them using the Brilliant Wings Dies, I coloured them using the following Stampin’ Blends i.e. Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather and Light Smokey Slate for the bodies. Note: the Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set and the Brilliant Wings Dies are available as a bundle – thereby saving 10% – in the Annual Catalogue.

I used the same sentiment for all three cards as it fitted in beautifully and on this occasion I stamped it using Fresh Freesia Ink. To decorate the sentiment I added one large and two small Burnished Brass Butterflies plus two Fresh Freesia Pearls from the Pastel Pearls. I added a bit more sparkle using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen and painted the butterfly’s bodies and also the flower centres on the DSP – subtle but visible.

I hope you enjoy today’s video as much as I enjoyed making it! I hope you have a very blessed Sunday and until next time, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting. (By the way, if my photographs look a bit strange today, it’s because I was learning how to edit them using Picmonkey!)

JanB. xx
