What is the process of connecting with the IMAP server and how to migrate the emails?
The tool connects with the server with Server name and the port number. Follow the steps below for the complete migration process.
- Access the tool and you will get a dashboard with Source IMAP and Destination IMAP options.
- Tap on Add under Source IMAP and fill in all the details from Server Name/IP, User Email/Login ID, password and the port number. Click on Add. In case of any errors, go through the documentation on the right-hand side.
- After the source account is added, tap on Add under Destination IMAP and fill in the relevant details. Tap on Add and wait for the destination account to be added.
- Select the Destination Account and click on Set Filter and Migrate.
- Let the process of enumerating folders be carried out. It will take a few seconds to minutes depending on the data.
- You can now set to start the migration. Moreover, you can also use Data Filters, Exclude Deleted Folder Items, Exclude Empty Folders and even skip previously migrated items. Look to set a timeout value in case of large emails migration. Click on Start Migration to begin.
- The migration process will start now.
- Wait for some time and your migration will be successful.
How many emails can you transfer with the trial version of the tool?
The trial version of the tool can only migrate 10 items per folder. For migration of more items, purchase the full version of the tool.
I have moved all my emails from my Gmail account to Zoho mail. Will my new emails come to Zoho mail now?
The utility migrates and moves all the existing emails from the source account [Gmail] to the destination account [Zoho mail]. It will not be configured for sending or receiving your new emails to Zoho mail.
I saw options for port numbers as 993 and 995, what is the difference between them?
The port number means that your server connection is securely encrypted using the SSL/TLS encryption. Port number 993 is for the IMAP protocol and port number 995 is for the POP3 accounts.
Is it mandatory to check the empty folders in the source account before carrying out the process of migration?
No, it is not necessary. This migration tool has got specific features that allow you to skip all the empty folders from migration.
