Boone’s animated protest led to his ejection by umpire Derek Thomas. This was Boone’s fourth ejection of the season and the 37th of his career as the Yankees’ manager.

On the mound, Stroman allowed a solo home run to Ozuna in the first inning but otherwise contained the Braves offense. He pitched into the seventh inning, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks over 6 2/3 innings.

This victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Yankees (52-27) and halted the momentum of a hot Atlanta team (42-32) that had won seven of their previous eight games. Atlanta’s pitching staff struggled with control, issuing a season-high eight walks, including five by Charlie Morton, who lasted only 5 2/3 innings.
